My Wife Built a Website With FRED. She'd Never Built One Before.
My wife didn't take a course or watch tutorials. She sat down with our AI agent and built a website. The real barrier to AI isn't technical.
My wife had an idea for a website. A real concept with real vision behind it.
There was just one problem: sheâd never built a website before.
If youâve been in that position, you know what usually happens next. You Google âhow to build a website.â You get 47 million results. You read three articles that contradict each other. You watch a YouTube tutorial thatâs already outdated. You spend two weeks evaluating platforms â WordPress vs. Squarespace vs. Wix vs. Webflow â and by week three you still donât have a single page live.
My wife skipped all of that.
Stop Thinking. Start Building.
Sheâd been refining the concept for a while â the branding, the messaging, the vision. Getting it just right before starting.
I told her to stop thinking and start building.
So she sat down with FRED.
For those new here: FRED (Futuristic, Ready and Enabled Device) is my AI agent. He runs 24/7 on a dedicated server, and heâs been helping me run my business, write content, manage investments, and keep things secure for months.
But this was different. This wasnât me â an accountant whoâs been tinkering with AI since day one. This was someone with zero technical background deciding to just⌠try.
What the Conversation Actually Looked Like
There were no carefully engineered prompts. No frameworks. No âact as a web developer with 10 years of experienceâ preambles.
Just normal conversation:
- âI want it to look like this.â
- âWhat should the homepage say?â
- âHow do I set up a page for this?â
FRED walked her through it step by step. Platform setup. Page structure. Copy for each section. Design decisions. Domain configuration.
No jargon. No condescension. Just a patient partner who could answer every question as fast as she could ask it.
Within a few hours, she had a live website. Real pages. Real copy. A real structure. And a professional email set up on her new domain.
Not a draft. Not a mockup. A launched site.
The Barrier Isnât Technical
Hereâs what struck me watching this happen: my wife never once worried about whether she was asking the ârightâ questions.
She didnât read a single article about AI prompting. She didnât study best practices. She didnât watch a video about how to talk to chatbots.
She just had a problem â âI need a websiteâ â and started solving it.
And thatâs the part most people miss entirely.
The AI conversation right now is dominated by prompt engineering, frameworks, courses, certifications, and âmasteringâ AI. Thereâs an entire industry built around making you feel like you need to understand AI before you can use it.
You donât.
My wife proved that in an afternoon.
The Real Unlock
The barrier to using AI isnât technical knowledge. Itâs not about understanding transformer architectures or knowing the difference between GPT-4 and Claude. Itâs not about crafting the perfect prompt.
The barrier is psychological.
Itâs the belief that you need to be ready before you start. That you need to learn the tool before you use the tool. That thereâs a âright wayâ to do this and you havenât found it yet.
There isnât a right way. Thereâs just starting.
What This Means for You
If youâve been thinking about using AI â for a business idea, a side project, a website, content, research, anything â and youâve been stuck in learning mode, hereâs my advice:
Close the tutorial. Open the chat. Tell it what you need.
Youâll ask bad questions at first. The AI will figure out what you mean anyway. Youâll go back and forth. Youâll refine as you go. And by the end of the conversation, youâll have something real.
Not because you mastered AI.
Because you just started using it.
My wife didnât need to understand how FRED works. She needed a website. FRED figured out the rest.
The technology is ready. The question is whether you are â and the answer is you already were.
You just need to start.
